Archimandrite Prof. Qais Sadiq is founder and President of the Ecumenical Studies Center and the Orthodox Youth Fellowship, in Jordan. In addition, he is a lecturer at the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy, and a counselor of The Sisterhood Is Global Institute (SIGI), the "MIZAN" Group of Law for Human Rights, Jordan, and the World Student's Christian Federation (WSCF), Middle East Region. He is Member of The Higher Jordanian National Committee for Bioethics and Technology, and The Higher Jordanian National Committee for Youth and Child Strategy (2003-2014).


Since 1972, he has been involved in serving youth and children through the Ecumenical Movement. As Professor of Canon Law (University of Balamand, 1982 - 2000) Lebanon; Educational Counselor (Orthodox National High School, 1982-1986), Jordan; Parish Priest, and Advisory Judge of the Sublime Ecclesiastical Tribunal (1989-1995) in Damascus, Syria; and member of Ex-National Task Force for Children (1996-2001), Jordan, he has gained a rich experience in Family Awareness, including child, youth, and women's issues.

Some of the programs he launched and is directing include "Civilization Across Borders "(1996), for extending bridges of culture, dialogue, and understanding between different civilizations of the World; "Youth Across Borders " (1996) for serving and empowering Christian and Moslem youth, college and university students in youth leadership; "The Fisher" (2001) for serving and empowering children (Christians and Moslems) of ages 12-18 in gender issues, human rights, democracy and social justice, child issues, peace building and reconciliation, inter-faith dialogue, education and development, and combating illiteracy and poverty.

His publications include: "Life in Unity - A Strategy for Combating Poverty in Jordan"; "The Legal Regulation of Child Labor in Jordan"; "Child Rights Between the Convention and Challenges"; "Violence or Non-Violence (Concepts and Attitudes Towards Violence Against Women)"; "The Church and Human Rights"; "Peace in Christian Thought"; "Pedagogy of Dialogue ( Introduction, Principals, and Practice)"; and "Love Towards the Other."

In recognition of his service to his community and the world through his dedication to peace and unity, his commitment to non-violence, and his persistent efforts to establish justice for all humankind, on October 8, 2003 he was awarded "The Gandhi - King - Ikeda Award."

"Abouna Qais" is known as the Servant of the Oppressed, Marginalized, and Suffering People of the Earth.
