GNRC 10th Anniversary
Congratulations on the tenth anniversary which marks an impressive decade of achievement by the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC). Ever since the launch of the GNRC in 2000, it has been a privilege for me to view the unfolding developments of its key activities in the major regions of the world.

Thanks to the Arigatou International and the wisdom of its leadership, Reverend Takeyasu Miyamoto, the GNRC is the leading global interfaith network devoted to children. Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the GNRC’s unique mission is to foster the interfaith and intercultural capacity of all children. The challenges and opportunities of the last ten years provide evidence to the enduring need for its programs.

Meg Gardinier, Director, Day of Prayer and Action for Children

In 2008, the Arigatou International launched yet another initiative to address the spiritual, intercultural and interfaith development of children: the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC). In this early phase of DPAC, the GNRC Coordinators and partners have – once again – lead and demonstrated how faith-based organizations and leaders, governments and civil society can partner on Universal Children’s Day to pray and act for children. Owing largely to your efforts, well over 8,000 people – more than half of them youth – celebrated the World Day in 2009. Thank you for paving the way, once again, for a world truly fit for children. Be assured that you can count on our support as you move forward during the next decade to meet the needs of even more children, their families and communities.
